Our tour will take you on an unequalled scenic experience, travelling deep into New Zealand's mighty Southern Alps. Your tour begins with a road trip across the Canterbury Plains to the small township of
Springfield, based in the foothills of the Alps. At Springfield you will board the TranzAlpine train, viewing the alpine scenery through panoramic windows enroute to Arthurs Pass. At Arthurs Pass we continue by road up to the main divide, just
reaching the West Coast, to view the 440 metre Otira viaduct - one of the most notable environmental & engineering achievements in New Zealand, before returning to Arthurs Pass for lunch (optional). Following lunch, we drive through the high alpine Porters Pass back
to Springfield, to take an exhilarating jetboat trip through the spectacular gorges of the Waimakariri River. We then enjoy a fabulous farm visit which includes sheep shearing, a sheep dog demonstration, and afternoon tea, before returning you
to Christchurch by road.
