The South
Island of New Zealand has some of the southernmost vineyards in the world,
with climatic conditions producing wines that are distinctive and
unique. The Waipara Valley in north Canterbury, is Canterbury's
premier wine-growing region, and is about 45 minutes' drive
north of Christchurch. Waipara is one of the
fastest growing wine producing regions in New Zealand, currently
boasting over 40 vineyards and wineries. The region is an
ideal cool-climate grape growing area, with Pinot Noir, Riesling,
Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc dominating local plantings. Recent
investment in the region by some of New Zealand's larger wine producers,
including Montana Wines, mean that Waipara is set to become a major player
in the New Zealand wine industry.

Our Waipara Tour will take you to
four award-winning wineries, such as Pegasus Bay, Mud House, Waipara
Springs, Torlesse, Mt Cass, Muddy Water, Danny Schuster or Sherwoods. (all
wineries subject to availability). You will be able taste the
wine, view the vineyards and, if you wish, buy some wine.
On our wine trail we are usually able to show you where the wine is made
and you are often able to meet the winemakers. A lunch
platter at one of the wineries is also included.

Good morning Jo,
I just wanted to pass on our thanks for a fantastic
wine tour on Saturday.
John was a brilliant driver/guide - he was extremely
knowledgeable about the local area, the wines and vineyards, and kept
us all entertained with his great sense of humour! He very quickly
took our personalities and tastes/preferences into account and selected
the perfect two 'optional' vineyards of the 4 we
visited.
