John was an excellent driver/guide with a wealth of knowledge about the

with us for the tour. We will recommend your tours to future

that your organization provided. Again thanks to John for making our

Christchurch City Sights
(Scheduled
Tour)
Itinerary
Leaving the wharf, we travel over the Port Hills, enjoying the
stunning views of Lyttelton Harbour, on our way to the seaside city
suburb of Sumner. From here we continue around the base of the
hills, to the Sign of the Takahe viewing platform. From here,
you will enjoy wonderful views over the Canterbury
Plains, to the Southern Alps, up to the Kaikoura coastline, and
over the City itself. |
 |
| We continue into the City,
and take you past many of the city highlights, parking
conveniently outside the Canterbury Museum, where you will have time
to visit the Botanic Gardens, Canterbury Museum, The Christchurch
Art Gallery, the Arts Centre, or why not take a punt on the
Avon River. |
 |

A visit to Christchurch isn't complete without a
visit to Cathedral Square. While you are here, you can visit
the many attractions within easy walking distance, including the
Cathedral, the Christchurch Visitor Centre, Southern Encounter
Aquarium and Kiwi House, or perhaps you would just like to enjoy a
stroll around the city centre, with it's many cafes, bars and
shops. You will have time to take a 20 minute circuit ride on
the historic Christchurch Tram.
The City and its well known
English heritage, is highlighted with a visit to Mona Vale
Gardens and function centre, just 5 minutes drive from the city
centre. |
 |
|
We visit the International Antarctic Centre. The
centre provides visitors with an interactive, fun, and exciting
experience of the 'Great White South'. Take a walk
through the Four Seasons, have fun in the snow &
ice in the polar room, experience the chill of the Antarctic Storm,
and see the little blue penguins. (if you don't want to go to
the Antarctic Centre you can rejoin the tour in central
Christchurch) |
 |
| By about
4.30pm you may well have thoughts of getting back to your
ship. We leave the city and travel via Lyttelton Tunnel, back
to Lyttelton, and have you on the wharf by approx 5.00pm,
in order to rejoin your ship. |

Private Charters:
Are you a group of friends or
family, or a couple, who would like to travel on your own,
without 40 others from the ship, and on a tour which may cost much less than the cruise ship tours ? If
the answer is "Yes", then a private charter may be just right for
you.
The beauty of a private charter is that
it is flexible, and it is your tour. You decide where you go to, and
when, and our driver/guide will take you there. If you want to stop for a
photograph, or to look at something, you can. We don't tell you what to do
!
You tell us: the date you are arriving in
Lyttelton; the name of your ship; how many people will be travelling with
you; and where you want to go to, e.g. Akaroa. We will then prepare an
itinerary and price for you to look at. If you want to change the
itinerary around, you can. For example, you may want to go on a jetboat
ride; or visit a farm, see a sheep being shorn, and talk to the farmer
about the farming industry; or visit a boutique vineyard, taste the wines,
and talk to the owner; or go swimming with dolphins; or you may be
interested in gardens - Christchurch is the Garden City, and we can show
you some outstanding private gardens, including the world famous
"Ohinetahi Gardens" owned by Sir Miles Warren; or maybe you would like to
have lunch at a top class restaurant such as Pegasus Bay or Edesia, or
visit a chocolatier, or play golf ... the options are endless. Basically,
you tell us what you would like to see and do, and we will prepare an
itinerary for you to consider - you have control over the entire process,
so you aren't wasting your time and money going on a set tour, which
doesn't really interest you.

in your group. We have a number of vehicles available, so we can cater for
just 2 people, right up to larger groups.
Our vehicles are
modern, have comfortable seating, are airconditioned, have PA
systems, and are appropriately licensed, as required by the laws of
New Zealand.
