AKAROA TOUR

Akaroa is Christchurch's most loved day tour destination.  Join us for an exceptional scenic tour of Banks Peninsula, including Lyttelton and Akaroa Harbours, and the historical seaside village of Akaroa.  Leaving central Christchurch, we travel the scenic route to Akaroa, over the Port Hills, via Sign of the Kiwi, Governors Bay, through Gebbies Pass, alongside Lake Forsyth, through Little River, and along the Akaroa summit road. The scenic route from Christchurch to Akaroa takes just over 2 hours. Scheduled sightseeing photo stops are made, so don't forget your camera !

You can then choose how to spend your day in Akaroa........ 

There are plenty of options to include in your day, from simply walking, relaxing in bars and cafes, taking a leisurely harbour cruise, or for the more adventurous, you can swim with the world's smallest dolphins - Hectors Dolphins.

Whatever you choose to do, Akaroa, as a day tour destination, which isn't on the main highway is well worth the detour, for a really wonderful scenic and historical venture and only 1.5 hours from Christchurch.

AKAROA HARBOUR CRUISE
You can join the 2 hour Akaroa Harbour cruise to view the majestic scenery and wildlife. Packed with highlights the cruise should feature sightings of the rare, native dolphin - the Hector's Dolphin, as well as seals, penguins and other birdlife.
SWIMMING WITH DOLPHINS
You can swim with the dolphins or join as a spectator.  The boat trip is usually about 2 hours. A briefing is provided beforehand. You are provided with wetsuits, masks and snorkel, just bring your swimming costume & towel.
The itinerary includes time to explore the historic and picturesque village of Akaroa, with its notable cottages and buildings, gardens, museum, craft shops, and galleries. We can also visit the Barrys Bay Cheese Factory, for a small taster of their crafted cheese.

Your day trip includes your hotel pick-up, tea or coffee at the Little River Cafe & Gallery, cheese tastings, private comfortable return transport from Christchurch to Akaroa, plus an informative commentary.
