KAIKOURA WHALE WATCHING TOUR

This tour takes you on a sightseeing tour north of Christchurch, to Kaikoura, a traditional fishing village nestled between the Southern Alps and the Pacific Ocean, to enjoy the ultimate marine experience - a close encounter with a giant Sperm Whale. The drive from Christchurch to Kaikoura is about 2.5 hours.

Your Whale Watch Tour by boat is a unique experience.   On a typical Whale Watch Tour, with up to 2 hours on the water, you should sight a giant Sperm Whale.  You may also see New Zealand Fur Seals, Dusky Dolphins, and the endangered wandering Albatross. Sightings vary from day to day.

Kaikoura is renowned for its fresh seafood, including fish, paua (abalone), and crayfish (lobster).  Your driver will show you where the many eateries are located, where you can purchase your lunch. You will have time to explore the township and the foreshore on foot.

During the trip to Kaikoura, you often get to observe the seals while they bask on the coastal rocks.

Your tour includes accommodation pickup, private comfortable return transport from Christchurch to Kaikoura, tea or coffee, whale watch tour by boat, lunch (optional), and an informative commentary.
Tour departs Christchurch 7.30am/8.30am (depending on sailing times)
